June 2014

After 28 years, as our Deputy Headteacher, Mr Probert has decided to retire from fulltime teaching in July.

Mr Probert has taught hundreds of children throughout his years as a teacher and every one of them has enjoyed being in is class and can remember at least one of his stories! The staff will also greatly miss Mr Probert for all his guidance, support and friendship. We will be very sad to see him leave our school and wish him well for a long and fun filled retirement.

There will be a whole school picnic on Wednesday 16th July from 3pm for Mr Probert, we would like the children to all bring a plate of food (no nuts or kiwi) and we invite: parents of pupils in Year 4; past pupils; parents of any pupils who have been taught by Mr Probert. If you would like to send a donation for Mr Probert, please give to Mrs Leach in Year 1.

Mrs Hatcher is also leaving us! Mrs Hatcher has been the friendly welcoming face at our school for 17½ years. Mrs Hatcher has coordinated all the school trips and attended to too many cuts and bruises to remember and the occasional broken limb! We shall really miss Mrs Hatcher and we would like to thank her for all her hard work and commitment to our school.   We wish her well as she takes up her new post at a Cardiff School on Monday 14th July.

I think the sun may shine for a little while longer! Please make sure all children have sun cream applied at home before school; children will also need a hat and a water bottle every day.

The children are currently practising for the sports day events and will therefore need trainers in school every day please.

Sports day will take place on Friday 27th June (weather permitting) we plan to start at 1.30pm. Please do not arrive before 1.10pm as the children will be at lunch and activities will be prepared.

Children will need school sports uniform of navy shorts and house colour T-shirt; NO football or rugby shirts please.

The PTFA will be selling refreshments throughout the afternoon.

A big THANK YOU to the Eco committee and Mrs Hopkins for organising a fun filled day to remind us of our ongoing actions to reduce, re-use and renew in school, we are currently working towards our third Green Flag. Don’t forget to return our toilet sponsorship boxes to school next week.

Group photos were taken at school on Wednesday, the proofs will be sent home with your child shortly, please ensure you get your orders in promptly so we can get photos to you before the end of term.

Thank you to Daisy O’Neill, Megan Hill and Emily Clarke who organised a cake, strawberry and bracelet stall raising £45.70 for school funds, the girls worked on their own initiative to set up and stock the stall in order to provide a lovely after school treat for the children. Well done girls.

We are pleased to announce we have a new Vicar in Wenvoe.     Jon Ormond takes up his post this Sunday and will join us in school for our worship on Wednesday. Vicar Jon is keen to get to know our school community and he will be a regular visitor in school for worship, Eucharist Services and fun day events.
